This past Wednesday I joined leagues of other Americans and finally became a homeowner. It is probably one of the most exciting and yet scariest things I have ever done. I have never moved around that much money in one transaction and I will have never paid this much money for "rent" in my life. But pretty much everyone will tell you that homeownership is one of the best investments you can make and I think that they are probably right.
My new place is a 3 bedroom 2 1/2 bath condo townhouse. It is the end unit that you see in the picture below. The couple that sold it to me were the original owners and have lived there for over 30 years. They recently moved down to South Carolina to be closer to their kids and grandkids. You can tell they put a lot of love into the house and must have a lot of wonderful memories of raising a family there. The wife of the couple was apparently quite the gardener and I only hope that I can keep up some of the things she was started. I will be moving in at the end of April and once I get things settled, anyone who wants to come to Washington DC will be more than welcome to stay at my place!

Congratulations. Are you going to change your handle to swedishhomeowner? It is indeed scary but it is so worth it.
You know where you can find a blue truck to help you with your move:)
Yeah! Congrats! Big changes in your life girl. It's almost your birthday too. Cousin Meg
