There is an exhibition at the Library of Congress right now called "Bound For Glory." It features color pictures taken by photographers of the Farm Security Administration/Office of War Information between 1939 and 1943. The description of the exhibit says, "These vivid scenes and portraits capture the effects of the Depression on America's rural and small town populations, the nation's subsequent economic recovery and industrial growth, and the country's great mobilization for World War II." We are so used to seeing photographs from this era in black and white, so it is very different and very cool to see these pictures in color. The exhibition will be at the LOC until January 21st and will then go on tour.
